I've found the Prolong Knot to be very well suited to interlinking in flat chains, and here are sections of flat-link bracelets made of them, shown side by side for comparison purposes:
Extended Prolong knot.
The wide silver chain is made with ten-loop Prolong knots, the gold chain consists of three-loop Prolong knots, and the narrow silver chain is a series of Carrick Bends, or Three-lead, Four-bight Turk's Heads. They were all made on the same scaling, i.e., the pattern can be superimposed on a grid with 1/10th of an inch intervals.

Here's an interesting experiment -- I doubled the smallest knots above, and linked them twice, to make this new chain:
